EMBODIED CONSENT: For Intimacy & Play
Sat 23rd Nov 2024, 2:30pm – 6pm
EMBODIED CONSENT: for Intimacy & Play, with Bear Phillips
“Exploring emotional attunement (and ninja-level consent!) for deeper pleasure and play”
--
I believe deeper and more pleasurable play is possible, but only if we can build safety and trust with our play-partners and lovers.
This experiential and trauma-informed workshop is for you if you are interested to learn how “embodied consent” can lead to deeper and more pleasurable experiences with your partners and lovers.
We’ll look at three levels of consent: verbal (language), and non-verbal (body language), before dropping in to explore energetic levels of communication (also known as emotional attunement).
We’ll explore how we communicate our boundaries, how we sometimes lose sight of each other’s boundaries – and what we can do to look after ourselves.
Starting at 2:30 pm (doors open from 2:15), the workshop will be in two parts, with a more structured but still experiential workshop for 90 minutes, a break, and a second more open and explorative space ending at 6:00 pm.
Bear has worked with hundreds of people in the world of sexuality, intimacy and kink. He is a trauma-informed bodyworker and a Sex & Love coach.
Open to all, irrespective of gender or orientation. Bring yourselves and an open, curious mind!
No Nudity.
No Under 18's.
--
Accessibility:
Unfortunately – as many in Brighton tend to be – the venue is not accessible to wheelchair users, being located on the first floor of The Actors building with no lift.
Having said that, please let me know if you have any access needs that I can support you with. For those with invisible disabilities, I’ll make every effort to provide a range of seating, and to be mindful of neurodivergent needs.

Speakers Corner
Monthly - Tues 12 November, 7-10pm
TCIKETS: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/transformbrightonandhove/1429792?
Transform Brighton and Hove brings you the latest in radical political education, as we invite three speakers to talk each month. Expect hot takes on politics, culture, current affairs, history, and everything in between.
🪣 Joe Skeaping: Sandcastle Politics
Joe is an A-level politics teacher, who will be exploring the question: why are parliamentary majorities so fragile? Using the concept "sandcastle politics," he will explore how the bonds that shape our core political attachments have weakened under neoliberalism, meaning that voters approach politics in an increasingly transactional way. Does this cast doubt on the durability of the new Labour government, despite its enormous majority? If we are now in an era of "sandcastle politics", how should the left respond? Can these attachments be re-formed?🤔 Dr David Bramwell: Challenging the Myths of Western Culture
David is an author, podcast host, and host of the Catalyst Club- a night of talks "exploring the singular passions of everyday folk..." His talks and shows explore subjects ranging from utopias and trickery to ghost villages and moomins. David's talk will look at how we came to think and feel in such a selfish, isolated way, and goes on to share new ways of thinking that are emerging in relation to community, entanglement, ecology and more.🏫 Amy McGourty, A historical narrative of the hedge school
Amy is a doctoral candidate in human geography at the University of Sussex, caseworker at Friends, Families and Travellers, trade unionist and anti-colonial Irish language activist. Her research uses oral history, archival and participatory methods to explore the themes of solidarity and resistance, and ask how the narratives and practices of Irish Travellers can be understood as forms of anticolonial worldmaking. With an overarching interest in and commitment to grassroots modes of knowledge production, as well as anticolonial and feminist pedagogies, her organising efforts are a natural extension to her research.
Got a theory you think everyone should know about? Political analysis of your favourite sit com? Been involved in a project that's inspired you? If you have a topic you love, and could talk about for 10-20 minutes, then let us know!

Radio Blah Blah w/ Guy Lloyd
5th September, 3rd October, 31st October
Guy Lloyd
has a brand new show. But this is a little different! Incorporating a radio studio and a live performance space, Guy is turning radio up to '11', with an exciting and immersive event for the good people of Brighton (and even Hove are welcome).
Remember The Tube? TFI Friday? This is the radio equivalent. Live performances from bands, solo artists, comedians, poets, you name it, anything could happen on this show. Alongside the live performances, they’ll be interviews with big names from across the city and beyond, all in front of a live audience. That live audience being you. And your friends. And family. And possibly, domestic animals (although we’d take non-domestic).
This month we welcome live performances and interviews with RY-GUY, Bellza and Maddie Broad.
